MOTAC plans cultural tourism programs and activities for 2025.

SIBU: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) will plan various programs and activities related to cultural tourism in 2025. This shows the efforts of the MADANI Government to make the cultural tourism industry one of the main concerns of the country.

Minister, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, said the cultural tourism industry has great potential to help the country’s economy and increase people’s income. This is because this industry can attract more tourists from home and abroad.

“Tourism Malaysia and its agencies manage these programs and activities,” he said when speaking at the MOTAC Bersama Komuniti @ Sibu 2024 event held at the Azman Hashim Community Sports Complex, last night.

He said, in the first nine months of last year, domestic tourism reached 193.3 million visitors, compared to 158.7 million people who visited in 2023. This shows an increase of 21. Domestic tourism expenditure from January to September also increased to RM77.8 billion compared to RM61.2 billion in 2023.

Tiong said that foreign tourist arrivals from January to November last year were 32.2 million people compared to 25.9 million people in 2023, an increase of 31.8 percent.

Meanwhile, the Bintulu Member of Parliament and Dudong State Assemblyman (ADUN) also said that his ministry would launch the “Midnight Sales” program with shopping malls and would be implemented nationwide.

“Food promotions as special packages will also be carried out to introduce and promote local Malaysian dishes at shopping malls and other outlets,” he said.

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) will soon announce Visit Malaysia Year 2026. This aims to make Malaysia the best tourist destination in the world and invites everyone to support this campaign together.

Meanwhile, Tiong said, MOTAC will continue to promote Sarawak and hopes that the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) can help produce more tourism products that can attract tourists from ASEAN, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and other countries around the world.
