
MYJalan Program: The Ministry of Works’ Commitment to the People of Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, 20 NOVEMBER 2024 – The Ministry of Works (KKR) continues to move forward in ensuring the public’s need for safe and high-quality roads is met through innovative programs such as MYJalan. During a Borak Santai session held today at Hotel Seri Pacific, the Minister of Works, YB Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, together with the Deputy Minister, YB Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, highlighted the vital role of the media in communicating the ministry’s initiatives to the public.
This program not only served as a platform for interaction between ministry leaders and media practitioners but also aimed to appreciate the media’s steadfast cooperation in disseminating information about the ministry’s policies and programs.
Present at the event were the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Works, YBhg. Dato’ Seri Azman Ibrahim, along with other senior ministry officials, including the Director-General of Public Works, YBhg. Datuk Wira Ir. Roslan bin Ismail, the Director-General of the Malaysian Highway Authority, YBhg. Dato’ Ir. Sazali bin Harun, and the Chief Executive of CIDB Malaysia, YBhg. Dato’ Sr Mohd Zaid Zakaria.
MYJalan: Roads Are a Shared Responsibility
In his speech, YB Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi stated that the MYJalan program exemplifies the Ministry of Works’ commitment to the welfare of the people. He explained that this initiative encourages Malaysians to play an active role in reporting road damage through the MYJalan app, fostering the spirit of “Our Roads, Our Responsibility.”
To date, MYJalan has received 22,702 complaints since its launch in August 2023. Of this total, 6,938 complaints fall under the ministry’s jurisdiction, with 96.08% successfully resolved. These statistics reflect how the MYJalan app not only simplifies the complaint process but also enhances the efficiency of resolving road-related issues.
The Role of Media in Program Success
The Minister emphasized the critical role of the media in raising public awareness about MYJalan. “Media practitioners are strategic partners who help us explain the objectives and success of this program to the public. MYJalan is an inclusive platform, and media support is crucial to amplifying this message,” he said.
Achievements and Future Aspirations
YB Dato’ Sri Alexander also expressed hope that the MYJalan initiative will continue to grow. Long-term plans, such as the declaration of a National Roads Day and promoting MYJalan on international platforms like the World Road Congress, are steps taken to ensure the program becomes a global reference point.
