Over 70 organisations in Kapit receive grants totalling RM1.3 mln
KAPIT, Nov 25: More than 70 organisations in Kapit have been awarded Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants amounting to RM1.3 million. Works Minister and Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi presented the cheques to the recipients during a ceremony yesterday.
In his speech, Nanta reminded recipients that the funds are strictly allocated for specific projects or activities outlined in their grant applications.
“These allocations are provided for the benefit of your members, so it is crucial to utilise them wisely,” he emphasised.
Nanta also highlighted the importance of accountability in the disbursement of government grants.
“As parliamentarians, we are responsible for ensuring these funds are properly used. To enhance transparency, each cheque is issued with a government circular detailing the declaration of proper use. Ultimately, it is up to the recipients to act responsibly and account for how the grants are spent,” he said.
The grants were distributed to 60 longhouse Village Security and Development Committees (JKKKs), parent-teacher associations, and local clubs, among others.
