PAS has no problem with anyone who wants to declare property

MARANG, November 11 – PAS has no problem with any party or individual who wants to declare property during the 15th General Election (GE15) season.

PAS President, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang, however, said that the action could be considered puppetry if it was only done before polling day.

He said that the move could actually be made before the GE season and not just to blind the eyes of the public.

“Property declarations can not only be made this election week or time, they can be made years ago or at any time.

“The local community can assess and know more about the (assets) of the PAS candidates we are highlighting, our assets are not worth millions, PAS has no cases of corruption, embezzlement and misuse of power like other parties, but PAS has no problem with anyone wanting to publicize,” he said when met by the media after delivering a dhuha lecture at the Rusila Mosque this morning.

For the record, DAP is also one of the parties that does not require its candidates contesting in GE15 to declare assets.

Its secretary-general, Anthony Loke Siew Fook, said DAP does not have a policy that requires election candidates to declare their assets.

Meanwhile, commenting on PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s allegation that he neglected his duties as a Member of Parliament, Abdul Hadi said the PH chairman was not qualified to talk about it.

“The people who judge, the people in my area judge, the proof is that I continue to be trusted to be a Member of Parliament for Marang.

“I have the support of the majority of the people, not only Muslims, but even non-Muslims, for example those in Wakaf Tapai, Marang.

“We listen to the evaluation of our voters, not those who sit far away,” he added.
