Rais Yatim hopes that the Malaysian and Turkish Parliaments will cooperate in the aspects of management and operation
KUALA LUMPUR: The Speaker of the National Assembly, Tan Sri Rais Yatim, hopes that cooperation between Malaysia and Turkey can be established in terms of the management and operation of the National Assembly.
He voiced that hope during the courtesy visit of the Speaker of the Turkish National House of Representatives, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sentop and his entourage at Parliament today.
Rais said in a statement that friendly relations especially between the Parliaments of the two countries should also be improved from a cultural aspect.
“It needs to be harmonized by the Members of Parliament, especially among the members of the Dewan Negara and Dewan Rakyat who are able to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries,” he said.
In the short meeting, Rais also accepted Sentop’s invitation to make an official visit to Turkiye in the future as his return visit to Malaysia.
Sentop, who is on a three-day official visit to Malaysia, also had the opportunity to see for himself the proceedings of the Dewan Rakyat conference that is taking place today.
Also present at the courtesy visit were five Turkiye Members of Parliament namely Bulent Tufenkci, Adnan Gunna, Burhanettin Bulut, Erhan Usta and Ramazan Kasli while the two senators of the National Assembly present were Datuk Razali Idris and Aziz Ariffin.
