RAM Photonics Ushers in a New Era of High-Speed, High-Precision Fiber Manufacturing with the Groundbreaking Medusa™ Array
RAM Photonics Industrial, LLC, a trailblazer in automated photonics manufacturing, has introduced its groundbreaking Medusa™ Array product line. This innovative 2D fiber array, crafted with submicron accuracy through a high-speed, fully automated process, removes the need for manual assembly and testing entirely. For the first time, RAM has created a mass-produced optical interface that seamlessly scales beyond 1024 fiber ports with negligible insertion loss, meeting the demands of tomorrow’s technologies today.
Designed to address the growing need for cost-efficient, high-volume 2D optical-to-electronic interfaces, Medusa™ is ideal for use in optical circuit switching (OCS) and co-packaged optics (CPO). Unlike traditional, labor-intensive photonics assembly, the Medusa™ Array leverages fully automated production to effectively integrate the semiconductor and optics industries.
As industries expand their reliance on artificial intelligence (AI), data centers (DC), and high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructures, the demand for mass-produced, photonics-to-electronic connectors for CPO and OCS has skyrocketed. Medusa™ answers this need with epoxy-free integration of submicron-precision 2D fiber arrays into semiconductor or MEMS backplanes. Through RAM’s fully automated manufacturing, customers can create bespoke interface geometries, collimation layers, and fiber types, while benefiting from the scalability and cost-efficiency inherent in high-yield semiconductor production.
“RAM is proud to introduce the Medusa™ Array family of products to meet the growing photonic interface need in AI and DC infrastructure,” said John Marciante, CEO of RAM Photonics. “Our automated manufacturing platform ensures unmatched precision and industry record yields, positioning RAM as a leader in high-volume fiber interconnects.”
