Genting Culinary Classic 2025: A Celebration of Malaysian Gastronomy
Scheduled to take place on June 10–11, 2025, at the Genting International Showroom (GISR), the Genting Culinary Classic 2025 is more than just a culinary competition—it’s a movement to celebrate Malaysia’s rich gastronomic heritage while uncovering the next generation of culinary stars.

Delivering the keynote address, Spencer Lee described the initiative as a milestone in RWG’s legacy:

The Genting Culinary Classic 2025, in collaboration with HAPA, marks a historic milestone as RWG’s first-ever culinary competition. As a global leader in tourism and hospitality, we are proud to host this inaugural event, bringing together Malaysia’s finest culinary talents—from professional chefs to passionate home cooks—and offering them the opportunity to showcase their creativity, skill, and expertise.”

He emphasized the broader vision behind the competition:

“As the saying goes, food unites a nation, and we want to be the driving force behind this unity by celebrating Malaysia’s rich food heritage while inspiring the next generation of culinary talent.”

The competition, organized in partnership with HAPA (Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards), aims to preserve Malaysia’s culinary traditions while pushing the boundaries of innovation in the F&B industry. It is open to everyone—from home cooks to professional chefs—with 20 finalists being selected based on their creativity, innovation, and culinary expertise. These finalists will battle it out in a live showdown, judged by a panel of five esteemed experts, including celebrity chefs and renowned food critics.

Expanding on the competition’s mission, Jennifer Ong, CEO of HAPA, delivered a powerful speech, stating:

“This is more than just a culinary competition. It is a platform for inspiration—a stage where chefs can push boundaries, showcase their artistry, and celebrate the richness of Malaysian cuisine. It is about honoring tradition, fostering creativity, and setting new benchmarks for the industry.”

The winners will not only receive prestigious titles and cash prizes, with the Grand National Winner taking home RM25,000, but will also have the opportunity to feature their signature dishes at RWG’s world-class dining outlets, a once-in-a-lifetime chance to leave a lasting mark on Malaysia’s culinary scene.

Jennifer Ong further underscored the long-term impact of the initiative:

“The Genting Culinary Classic is set to become a legacy event—one that will shape the future of Malaysia’s F&B and culinary industry for years to come.”
