
Samalaju Industrial Port’s Smart Barrier Gate promises to revolutionise port entry management
BINTULU (March 13): Samalaju Industrial Port Sdn Bhd (SIPSB) introduced its latest technological innovation, the Smart Barrier Gate system, during an official ceremony yesterday.
Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) president and group chief executive officer Ruslan Abdul Ghani officiated at the event.
Also present were Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Matshalleh Mohamad Etli, senior general manager of project delivery Baharin Osman, and SIPSB chief executive officer Sufri Bohari.
BPHB said the Smart Barrier Gate, which began operations today (March 13), is designed to revolutionise port entry management.
“Equipped with state-of-the-art features, this revolutionary system aims to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of truck and cargo movements, streamlining operations for port users.
“The revolutionary system incorporates cutting-edge features such as licence plate recognition, radio-frequency identification, optical character recognition, AI-enabled recording, and image recording,” BPHB said in a statement.
BPHB said the cutting-edge initiative will not only elevate port security but also strengthen automation, pushing SIPSB to the forefront of smart port solutions.
The technology reflects SIPSB’s ongoing commitment to innovation and operational excellence in its journey toward a smarter, faster, and more connected future.
