
Sarawakian dancesport duo wins 16 medals at JCDA Championships in Singapore
KUCHING (March 11): Two eight-year-old dancers have made Sarawak proud by winning a remarkable total of 16 medals at the 1st JCDA DanceSport Championships held in Singapore on March 8.
Jovanna Goh and Ariella Tang, both students at Tyng Dance Academy, demonstrated exceptional talent and determination in their first overseas competition of the year, standing out among young dancers from across the region.
Goh earned six gold, one silver and three bronze medals, while Tang achieved six bronze medals.
Tyng Dance Academy principal and coach Chan Tyng Tyng expressed immense pride in the young dancers’ achievements.
She said that their outstanding performances have further solidified Sarawak’s reputation as a rising powerhouse in the Southeast Asian dancesport scene.
“Jovanna and Ariella have worked incredibly hard, and their success on the international stage is a testament to their dedication and passion for dancesport.
“Competing at this level requires intense training and discipline, and they have proven that Sarawak has the talent to shine globally,” she told The Borneo Post in an interview yesterday.
The championship, hosted at the National University of Singapore Society (NUSS) Guild Hall, featured promising young dancers from various countries, making the Sarawakian duo’s accomplishments even more significant.
Chan added that their success serves as motivation for other young dancers in Sarawak to aim higher and compete internationally.
“We hope to see more young talents emerging from Sarawak and making a mark in the global dancesport arena,” she added.
With this latest triumph, Goh and Tang have set their sights on upcoming international competitions, determined to bring further glory to Sarawak in the world of dancesport.
