Studentsto protest about accusations of corruption in Sabah and the controversial appointment of the governor.

The students said the protest is also to demand CM Hajiji to step down.

Students are organizing a peaceful protest on December 31 in Sabah. They want to speak out against corruption claims against leaders of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and the choice of Tun Musa Aman as the new governor of the state.

The protest targets allegations of stealing money and misuse of power by GRS politicians. It also concerns the appointment of Musa Aman as the governor of Sabah, even though he has been accused of corruption in the past. This information was shared by the protest organizers in a statement today.

The team includes Universiti Malaysia Sabah students Fadhil Kasim, Qistina Qaisara, Sudirman Arshad, Khairul Abidin, and Fathimah Al-Haura.

The “Peaceful Gathering to Fight Corruption in Sabah” will happen at 2 PM in front of the Sabah State Administrative Office (PPNS) in Kota Kinabalu.

The group also gets people involved.

“We want to show how seriously students and the public care about corruption in Sabah,” said a spokesperson during a press conference in Kota Kinabalu.

The main requests are for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to be more open about its work and for a look into Musa Aman’s job appointment.

“The secretariat said, ‘He is connected to big corruption scandals and is not suitable for such an important job. ‘”

It also called for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to step down because of weak leadership and failure to deal with ongoing corruption claims against state politicians.

The organizers emphasized that the protest was not tied to any political party and denied claims that they had support from politicians.

“We are a group of students who support the people and are not funded by any political party,” the secretariat said.

The calm protest, called a “symbol of people’s strength,” will happen according to the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

The organizers said they told the police about their peaceful gathering and invited others to join them.

“This is about democracy and being responsible. ” The people of Sabah should have better leaders who are honest and fair, the group said.
