Telkomsel Expands 5G Network in Greater Jakarta Area with Hyper AI Autonomous Network, Connecting Hearts During Christmas and New Year
JAKARTA , Indonesia , Dec. 10, 2024 / — Telkomsel continues to strengthen its position as a leading digital telecommunications service provider by significantly and continuously expanding its 5G (Hyper 5G) network in the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area. With the support of Huawei, this initiative is being carried out to welcome the 2024/2025 Christmas and New Year (NARU) festivities, so that the community can enjoy the best digital experience during this special time.
Telkomsel’s industry-leading Hyper 5G coverage now includes several key routes in and around Jakarta, from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to Halim Perdanakusuma, the planned areas of Pantai Indah Kapuk 1 and 2, to business and government hubs stretching from Pondok Indah to the National Monument (Monas). In the near future, Telkomsel plans to gradually, strategically and systematically expand its 5G network to other prime locations across Indonesia.
Telkomsel’s 5G technology delivers internet speeds up to four times faster than 4G, providing greater reliability, the ability to connect more devices and low latency to support emerging technologies and innovations.
Since its commercial launch in 2021, Telkomsel’s Hyper 5G is Indonesia’s most extensive and advanced network, with over 1,400 5G base transceiver stations (BTS) spread across 56 cities and regencies, promoting the country’s progress and digital transformation.

Telkomsel is also integrating a comprehensive Hyper AI approach, based on artificial intelligence (AI), to improve efficiency and service quality. This technology ensures faster responses to network outages and enables automated management through an autonomous network framework.
“With Hyper AI, Telkomsel delivers optimal service quality in various situations, ensuring the best customer experience anytime, anywhere, including in busy spots during NARU and strategic Hyper 5G locations,” added Indra.
Hyper 5G’s low latency further supports the Hyper AI approach, such as in Telkomsel’s implementation of AI-powered virtual customer service assistance services. Virtual assistant Veronika (B2C) and virtual account manager Ted (B2B), integrated into the AI service operations center, enable fast and effective responses to customer needs, delivering innovative and superior service experiences in the 5G era.
Optimizing digital customer experiences for special occasions
During NARU, Telkomsel expects a 14.8% increase in data traffic, with total payloads expected to reach 1,981 petabytes. Full infrastructure optimization for 4G/LTE and 5G networks, supported by comprehensive network testing on key routes and strategic locations, has been implemented to ensure customer convenience in accessing digital services.
