TNB on High Alert to Ensure Public Comfort During Aidilfitri
• Upgraded electricity supply network systems and deployed 271 mobile generators at strategic locations to ensure supply continuity.
• Over 10,000 TNB personnel on standby throughout Aidilfitri to maintain stable electricity supply.
• Public urged to observe safety measures and energy-saving habits for efficient and safe electricity use.
As Malaysia prepares to celebrate Aidilfitri next week, more than 30 million Malaysians are expected to return to their hometowns or enjoy the country’s largest festive season in the cities.
In response, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has announced comprehensive preparations to ensure a stable electricity supply and customer comfort across Peninsular Malaysia throughout the Aidilfitri celebration period.
Proactive Measures for a Smooth Festive Season
As part of early preparations, TNB has completed several electricity network upgrade projects nationwide. In addition, 271 mobile generators have been deployed at key strategic locations as a precautionary measure.
More than 10,000 TNB staff have been mobilized and are on standby 24/7 — starting two days before Syawal until the third day of Aidilfitri — to respond swiftly to any disruptions.
According to Ir. Mahathir Nor Ismail, TNB’s Chief Distribution Network Officer, “TNB’s technical team will maintain close monitoring and take immediate action to restore supply in case of disruptions, ensuring that the joy of Aidilfitri continues to light up our customers’ homes.”
Safety and Energy-Saving Tips for a Joyous and Responsible Celebration
While extending warm Hari Raya Aidilfitri greetings, Ir. Mahathir also advised the public to prioritize electrical safety, especially when celebrating in hometowns or hosting open houses.
Here are some simple safety practices:
• Switch off the main power supply and unplug unused appliances before leaving home.
• Avoid overloading sockets with too many appliances or extension cords.
• Use timers to automatically turn on lights for home security.
• Ensure all electrical appliances are in good condition before use.
He also encouraged energy-saving habits during the festive season, including:
• Monitor electricity usage via the myTNB app.
• Set air conditioners to 24–26°C and clean filters regularly.
• Cook efficiently by baking large batches of festive cookies at once.
• Avoid placing hot food directly into the refrigerator.
• Wash full loads of laundry and sun-dry clothes when the weather is good.
• Iron clothes in batches to avoid repeated use.
• Use LED lights, which are more durable and energy-efficient.
