US, Canada and Asean Attract a Surge of British Travelers to Bold New Adventures in 2025

A recent survey reveals that 28% of British travelers are eager to explore destinations beyond Europe, with 9% admitting they find European holidays less exciting. This growing interest reflects a shift towards discovering diverse cultures, indulging in adventurous journeys, and experiencing new natural environments.

The desire to experience different cultures (42%), a sense of adventure (28%), new natural environments (24%), and diverse cuisines (20%) are among the primary motivators driving Brits to seek long-haul travel experiences.

Australia remains a top choice for British travelers despite its reputation as an expensive destination. The average return ticket to Brisbane currently costs £1,417, yet prices have dropped by 7% compared to the previous year, making it more accessible.

Interestingly, while nearly half of surveyed travelers (48%) plan to maintain their usual holiday spending despite venturing further afield, 25% aim to cut back on costs due to the significant expense of long-haul flights. For those seeking value, less conventional destinations like Morocco, Canada, and the US offer more budget-friendly options.

On the other hand, around 23% of respondents are willing to splurge on their dream holidays, prioritizing fine dining (67%), unique experiences (65%), better accommodations (51%), and even premium flight upgrades (29%) to make their trips memorable.

The year 2025 is shaping up to be an excellent opportunity for British travelers to turn their long-haul aspirations into reality, with more competitive airfare prices to iconic destinations such as Australia, Japan, and Indonesia.
