Apprenticeship Fest 2025 Celebrates the Power of Learning While Earning

LARGO, Md. – Employ Prince George’s reaffirmed its commitment to workforce advancement with Apprenticeship Fest 2025, a vibrant, two-part event on April 30 that introduced more than 400 attendees to the practical benefits of apprenticeships.

Held at the Building Trades Career Center, the day began with high school students participating in interactive sessions with professionals from a range of industries. From the arts to skilled trades, students gained insight into careers that allow them to earn competitive wages while training on the job.

“We aimed to spark a new vision for what success after high school can look like,” said Claudia Marin, Director of Talent Acquisition at EPG. “There are viable, rewarding careers outside the traditional college track.”

The afternoon session opened to the general public, welcoming job seekers in search of structured, long-term employment. Many connected with union-based programs tied to large-scale regional development projects currently underway.

“Apprenticeship programs like these are filling urgent labor shortages and preparing workers for some of the most critical infrastructure work in our region,” said Brian Courtien, representing the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.

Through partnerships, training, and inclusive outreach, EPG continues to champion equity-driven workforce solutions that meet both industry needs and community aspirations.
