Hisense makes dual commitment to reduce carbon emissions at ESG Global Leadership Conference

QINGDAO , China , Oct. 18, 2024 / — Hisense Group President Jia Shaoqian yesterday expressed the company’s new dual commitment to reducing carbon emissions at the 2024 Global ESG Leadership Conference held in Shanghai and introduced Hisense’s latest initiatives to make green development an essential pillar of “Building a Century of Hisense Brand.”

As part of its commitment, the company aims to achieve peak carbon dioxide emissions from its own operations by 2026 at the latest and carbon neutrality from its own operations by 2050 at the latest, while integrating low-carbon concepts into all aspects of the company’s corporate governance and operating practices.

“At Hisense, we have adopted the principle of long-term implementation of ESG practices as part of our ‘Comprehensive Deal’ and ‘Global Operations’ strategy, which are integral to the company’s commitment to ESG development,” Jia explained. “The company has established a global network of ‘5+1’ regional research, production and sales centers. This is in line with the principle of ‘Local Businesses for Local Customers’, which aims to serve local communities while reducing logistics costs and energy consumption.”

Constituting the first Carbon Neutrality White Paper, Hisense’s Carbon Neutrality Action Plan “Hi GREEN” will focus on three key areas to support the implementation of the company’s low-carbon transformation strategy to maximize energy efficiency improvements, accelerate the development of a low-carbon supply chain, and drive the iteration and optimization of low-carbon products and services.

Hisense has set up a global lighthouse factory, three zero-emission factories and 14 Chinese national green factories. Compared to 2023, Hisense aims to reduce carbon intensity by 40% by 2030. By 2025, the company plans to include more than 2,400 suppliers, accounting for about 50% of all suppliers, in its carbon management system. In addition, Hisense will encourage 40% of its suppliers to set their own carbon reduction targets.

Hisense’s high-end, energy-saving and high-quality home appliances have won the trust of users around the world.
