Malaysia Airlines resumes direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Brisbane

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines Bhd has resumed direct flights from KL International Airport (KUL) to Brisbane Airport (BNE) with the inaugural flight MH135 departing from Kuala Lumpur on November 29.

The airline said in a statement today that this move will reactivate this important route to meet the increasing travel demand.

He said the resumption of the service had received an encouraging response, achieving a high load factor of 86 percent for outbound flights to BNE and 99 percent for return flights to KUL, reflecting the high demand for the resumption of this route.

According to the statement, through the resumption of services, Malaysia Airlines now offers direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to five cities in Australia, thus strengthening its commitment to the market.

In addition, the move supports increased flight frequency to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide, he said.

“The airline has begun introducing its brand new A330neo fleet to selected routes to Australia, offering enhanced passenger comfort, better fuel efficiency and featuring the latest cabin features.

“By the first quarter of 2026, Malaysia Airlines will operate its newest fleet of wide-body aircraft to Australasia, thus underlining its commitment to providing a modern and comfortable travel experience and the friendly service that is Malaysia’s identity,” he said.

According to him, flight MH135 operates from KUL to BNE departing at 8.40pm every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday while for the return service, flight MH134 from BNE to KUL departs at 8am the same day.

Malaysia Aviation Group Bhd (MAG) Chief Commercial Officer, Dersenish Aresandiran said the resumption of direct services to Brisbane underscores Malaysia Airlines’ commitment to expanding its operations in Australia and enhancing global network connectivity.

MAG is the owner of Malaysia Airlines.

“This strategic expansion supports tourism and trade flows between Malaysia and Queensland while offering more convenience and choice to travellers,” he said.
