Malaysia PM Visits Battersea Power Station, Witnesses Key UK Development

LONDON, Jan. 17, 2025 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is on an official visit to the United Kingdom, took time to tour the Battersea Power Station, a significant urban regeneration project that stands as one of the largest in Europe.

The Prime Minister was joined by Tan Sri Shahril Ridza Ridzuan, Chairman of Battersea Project Holding Company Ltd, and other prominent figures including Datuk Abdul Rahman Ahmad, President and CEO of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB). The visit underscored Malaysia’s substantial contribution to the development of the iconic power station.

Commenting on the project, Shahril Ridza said, “We are deeply proud of the success of Malaysia’s involvement in this transformative project in the heart of London.”

The Battersea Power Station redevelopment, led by a Malaysian consortium comprising PNB, Sime Darby Property, S P Setia, and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), is breathing new life into a historic yet underdeveloped part of London.

The project covers 42 acres, with plans to deliver 4,000 residential units, 3.5 million square feet of commercial space, and extensive public areas.

Nearly 50% of the development is already complete, and it is expected to generate thousands of jobs upon its finalization.

As Battersea Power Station continues to evolve, it marks a major milestone for Malaysia’s growing global presence in large-scale international projects.

The successful redevelopment will undoubtedly enhance London’s status as a global metropolis.
