Performing Contractors Deserve Future Projects, Says Minister Nanta
PARIT: Contractors who excel in delivering projects awarded by the Ministry of Public Works (KKR) should be prioritized for future assignments, according to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Acknowledging the quality and timely completion of projects, Nanta emphasized the need to recognize high-performing contractors. He noted that the Public Works Department (PWD) will prepare performance reports on contractors, identifying those with a proven track record for inclusion in a list of reputable candidates for upcoming projects.
“This initiative is a mark of appreciation for contractors who deliver on time, maintain quality, and manage costs effectively without exceeding allocated budgets,” he told reporters during an event today.
Nanta was speaking at the launch of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program involving KKR, the PWD, and the Federal Road concessionaire, aimed at preparing for the Northeast Monsoon. The program took place along Jalan FT005, covering the Jelapang-Ipoh-Ayer Tawar route, a flood-prone area.
Commenting on the CSR initiative, Nanta explained that the location was selected due to frequent flash floods caused by heavy rains.
“The drainage system here not only manages water from the road surface but also copes with runoff from older developments on both sides of the road,” he said.
As part of the program, activities included cleaning weep holes, clearing road embankments, washing drains, and removing debris to mitigate flood risks.
