28 editors to be judges of NPC-MACROKIOSK Muhibbah Awards

KUALA LUMPUR : Twenty-eight editors from media establishments in the country have joined the panel of judges for the first-ever National Press Club-MACROKIOSK Muhibbah Award series beginning this month.

From this pool of media editors, five will be entrusted to evaluate nominees shortlisted by the NPC Awards Committee for each month.

This award series, organised by NPC and enterprise solutions platform provider MACROKIOSK, recognises any individual, group or organisation that best exemplifies the true spirit of Muhibbah in Malaysia.

The panel will decide on the award conferred monthly on individuals and organisations whose courageous deeds and selfless acts have made a tremendous impact on the nation and its people in the most generous sense.

In welcoming these editors on board, NPC president Datuk Ahirudin Attan said NPC was fortunate to have the support of both mainstream and digital media fraternity for this most important award series ever organised by the club.

“We are grateful for the support and cooperation shown by these highly-reputed editors across all languages and segments,” he said.

“These judges represent the diverse Malaysian Press fraternity, symbolising the spirit of muhibbah that NPC is trying to revive in Malaysian society,” he added.

MACROKIOSK Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Kenny Goh, in expressing his appreciation for the support and response from the senior editors, said: “We are deeply honoured that these busy editors from mainstream and digital media titles have come together to form the panel of judges.”

“Their task in evaluating nominations is central to the success of this award series as we set out to make a difference in Malaysian society and bring back the spirit of muhibbah. We look forward to engaging and productive sessions in the months ahead,” he added.

The monthly winner (individual/organisation) stands to take home RM2,000. The winners will also receive vouchers from top regional lifestyle tea brand Tealive, Malaysia’s leading lifestyle fresh market brand Jaya Grocer and top natural yoghurt brand llaollao.

The NPC was founded on June 6, 1948, when a group of journalists came together at an inaugural meeting at the old Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The NPC now has over 300 members.
