3 Days Of Matta Fair Have Exceeded 1 Million Sales For Selangor Pavilion

Selangor as Malaysia’s Featured Destination: Selangor Pavilion at MATTA Fair was greeted with enthusiasm

SELANGOR, 3 October 2023 – Tourism Selangor has once again successfully participated in the MATTA Fair 2023 with the announcement of Selangor as Malaysia’s Featured Destination. Spread across 5 pavilions with 21 product operators taking part, the Selangor Pavilion managed to achieve RM 1.03 Million in sales with over 80,000 visitors visiting the pavilion.

Launched by the Y.Bhg. Datuk Roslan Tan Sri Abdul Rahman, the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, Tourism Selangor’s participation in the MATTA Fair this year has gathered visitors from tourism agencies, the Malaysian Association of Hotels, Airline companies, and the public to the Selangor Pavilion by repositioning Selangor as the ideal travel destination for domestic tourism through the campaign “Nak Bercuti? Pusing Selangor Dulu!”.

Azrul Shah Mohamad, the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor, in a statement said Tourism Selangor has brought a robust impact towards MATTA Fair 2023 with GL Play as our strategic partner. Our participation this time has recorded the highest number of sales throughout our participation in the MATTA Fair for 12 years.

Based on research conducted by Professor Amran Hamzah, the Tourism Planning Director from the Centre for Innovative Planning and Development (CIPD) of Malaysia Technology University, the Selangor Pavilion booths and packages were reportedly excellent throughout the whole 3 days.

This was further contributed by the Pusing Selangor Dulu Fiesta, which was held for 2 days in a row from 2nd- 3rd September 2023 during MATTA Fair. The Pusing Selangor Dulu Fiesta has gathered tourism industry players in Selangor, celebrities and influential individuals through tourism vouchers giveaway and Meet and Greet Sessions with Che Puan Juliana Evans, the ambassador of the Pusing Selangor Dulu campaign and Bonda Rozita Ibrahim the Founder of Jamu Ratu Malaya and Rumah Hutan Terapi Alam, one of the newest attractions in Batang Kali, Selangor.

According to Nigel Wong, the President of MATTA, this year, the MATTA Fair introduces a new horizon of segmentation in the domestic hall. With categories like state, hoteliers and free zone, the Fair aims to showcase how this strategy will stimulate the growth of local domestic tourism stakeholders. This segmentation not only highlights the diversity of domestic offerings but also underscores our commitment to nurture and further promote local tourism.
