MYAirline officially launches first international route from KL to Bangkok

The airline also introduced its MYAirline Students program, which provides a 20% discount on fare for domestic flights

MYAIRLINE, Malaysia’s fastest-growing airline, announed two significant initiatives at its Double Takeoff launch event at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 this morning: the MYAirline Students program and the airline’s highly anticipated international route to Bangkok. Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook officiated the launch.

MYAirline’s Chief Executive Officer, Rayner Teo expressed commendation for the fare prices for students’ initiative by Loke. Teo affirms, “From our first meeting with YB Tuan Anthony Loke, it became evident that he held a deep commitment to the welfare of students across the nation. We wholeheartedly support this initiative, and it has been in the works since the announcement on special fare for students was made in April 2023.

“MYAirline Students program will alleviate the financial burden faced by parents sending their children to various institutions of higher learning throughout the country. We further believe that this initiative will foster closer family bonds, particularly during joyous celebrations and festive occasions.”

MYAirline Students, is an exclusive program designed for Malaysian and foreign students enrolled in Malaysian institutions of higher learning, providing an array of benefits. Emphasising the airline’s commitment to students welfare, the program offers a generous 20% discount on the fare and complimentary 15kg of baggage allowance for all current and future Malaysian domestic routes.

To qualify for the program, one must meet these simple requirements: be a registered member of MYAirline Rewards, provide valid enrollment letters with passport sized photo, and fall within the age bracket of 16 and 26 years old.

“I deeply appreciate and commend MYAirline for addressing the needs of students and their families by offering affordable transportation options,” said Loke. “Having reliable and accessible travel becomes significant factors as more students pursue their education within the country. This contributes to the broader socioeconomic development in Malaysia.”

On MYAirline’s official launch of its first international route to Bangkok, Loke noted the strong economic and tourism prospects it unlocks for both Malaysia and its neighboring nation. Loke stated “Enhancing connectivity creates an environment that fosters better trade, investment and cultural exchange.

“The launch of this route is a significant step towards forging stronger regional ties and the collective potential of our economies and it will only bode well for both countries moving forward.”

In a send-off ceremony for Kuala Lumpur-Bangkok flight by Loke and MYAirline’s leadership team, passengers were greeted with special gift packs with exclusive merchandise from MYAirline.

Emphasising the extensive preparation that led to the official launch, Rayner said “Months of hard work and meticulous planning have led us to this significant milestone. Our inaugural flight to Bangkok on 28th June 2023 was just the beginning of our regional expansion journey and we look forward to announcing more developments in the coming months.

“We will also introduce a second flight to Bangkok via Don Mueang International Airport on 1 July 2023, offering more travel options.”

Sirintara Surakanitaya, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Malaysia said “Since the full reopening of the border, the tourism markets in Thailand and Malaysia have become vibrant again, demonstrating a positive demand for the tourism market of both countries.

“This year, during the first two quarters of the year, Thailand has already welcomed more than 1.9 million Malaysian tourists and is expected to reach more than 3.5 million by the end of the year 2023. MYAirline would provide tourists with more options and flexibility in terms of flight schedules and destinations, which allow travelers to plan their itineraries more efficiently and cater to their specific needs.”
