Sri Lanka Customs Expects To Collect Around 2.8 Billion USD In Taxes This Year
COLOMBO, Oct 27 (NNN-XINHUA) – Sri Lanka Customs, yesterday announced that, they expect to collect taxes worth 925 billion rupees (2.83 billion U.S. dollars) in 2023.
Speaking to the media, Customs Director and media spokesman, Seevali Arukgoda, said that, between 2017 and this year, Sri Lanka Customs generated a revenue of 742 billion rupees (2.27 billion dollars) per year.
The government had set a revenue target of 1,226 billion rupees (3.75 billion dollars) for this year, and the difference between the revenue target and the actual achievement has been a concern, Arukgoda said.
He said, the International Monetary Fund had made five recommendations for Sri Lanka Customs, and they are trying to increase efficiency.
