TNB has a long history of cooperation with the media and values their role and service

KUALA LUMPUR: The top management of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) welcomed the key authors and right-wing authors of local media in a fasting opening ceremony at the Leo Moggie Convention Centre, TNB Platinum, Bangsar, yesterday.

In attendance were about thirty writers from media outlets who got along well with TNB’s administration, which was led by President/CEO Datuk Ir. Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan.

“The media with its role as a communicator of information and language of the public needs TNB, as well as otherwise TNB through the media can magnify its announcement to the people,” he stated during his speech.

He continued by saying that the media had long assisted TNB in informing the public about the state’s electrical services, starting in 1949 with the Central Letric Institute (CEB), continuing in 1965 with the State Letrical Institute (LLN), and finally evolving into the TNB (1990).

Megat Jalaluddin stated that TNB has a plan in place to lower carbon emissions going forward as part of its goal to become the top provider of sustainable energy solutions in Malaysia and around the world.

“TNB, as a National Progress Engine for so long, supports the Government’s initiative in implementing the National Energy Transition Target Plan (NETR) to generate cleaner energy in an effort to strengthen commitment to the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG),” he stated.

TNB has been given the responsibility to oversee the large-scale solar park (LSSP), hydro floating solar hybrid (HHFS), and co-burning of ammonia and hydrogen under the NETR. These projects are critical to achieving the nation’s environmental goals and promoting economic expansion.

More than thirty media writers were present, and they struck up a friendly conversation with TNB’s top management. President/CEO Datuk Ir. Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan expressed his gratitude for the media professionals’ cooperation in maintaining a positive working relationship with TNB for so long before the company was once more referred to as the National Letric Institute (LLN).
