FSJA embarks on media coverage visit to Pontianak, Indonesia from July 5-8
KUCHING, – A group of 15 media personnel from the Federation of Sarawak Journalists Association (FSJA) will embark on a four-day visit to Pontianak, Indonesia starting from July 5 to 8, 2023.
The group, led by FSJA president Andy Jong Wan Joon and vice president II Jacqueline R. David, comprised of representatives from local media agencies, namely Unit Komunikasi Awam Sarawak (UKAS), Bernama, RTM, TVS, TV3, Sin Chew Daily, Borneo Post, Suara Sarawak, DayakDaily and Utusan Malaysia.
Departing from Kuching Sentral Bus Terminal at 1 pm on July 5, the group will ride on a bus passing through Tebedu-Entikong border to reach the Pontianak city.
Also joining the trip is Mr Alexandri Legawa, Staff of Protocol and Consular Section from Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching.
During the trip, the group is scheduled to pay a courtesy call to Governor of West Kalimantan, Bapak Haji Sutarmidji M.Hum.
They would also pay a courtesy call on Mayor of Pontianak, Bapak Ir. H. Edi Rusdi Kamtono MM MT, followed by a signing ceremony of memorandum of understanding between FSJA and Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) Kalimantan Barat.
In addition, they would stop by the Consulate of Malaysia in Pontianak where the Malaysian Consul, En. Azizul Zekri bin Abd Rahim, would host a high-tea with the media.
The trip was supported by the Sarawak government under the leadership of Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg and Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching.
