Kuala Lumpur to host Cyber Security Asia Conference 2023

KUALA LUMPUR – Cybersecurity experts from around the world will gather in Kuala Lumpur for the Cyber Security Asia Conference 2023.

The two-day event, organised by Malaysian events professionals, Thomvell International, kicks off on June 19-20, bringing together top experts and practitioners for in-depth talks, and networking opportunities.

This year’s theme ‘Managing Cyber Risk in a Threat-Based World’ will be a platform for the development of partnerships, and strategies and highlights the latest technologies ensuring the security of government, industry, and end-users.

Cyber security is a constantly evolving sector. Both hackers and security experts are always in a battle to outsmart each other, and in today’s digital age, cyber security is more crucial than ever. Digital business and hybrid workplaces have shifted the cyber security landscape.

Ransomware has evolved, phishing is all-too-common, and law enforcement agencies have enormous backlogs of crimes requiring investigations. It is necessary to reframe security practices and rethink technology, as well as prepare for new threats.

With the support of forward-thinking security strategies and technology solutions to match, the modern business can minimize potential risk and step into a digital future confidently.

According to the Cybersecurity Asia website, the event will take place at Sheraton Imperial Hotel, Kuala Lumpur bringing together almost 50 prominent speakers and an expected 200 attendees.

Among the notable speakers – Cybersecurity Malaysia CEO, Dato’ Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Christopher Hadnagy (CEO & Chief Human Hacker, Social Engineer), Jay Hira of MakeCyberSimple, Founder, Jalpa Bhavsar (KPMG’s Former Cyber Security Director), Bank Muamalat CISO Dr.Ismamuradi Abdul Kadir, Dr. Carrine Teoh of Bond Holdings, Rodney Lee from FIRMUS, EC-Council Group CEO Jay Bavisi and many more.

This event is expected to discuss and delve deeper into Cyber Security Bill that will be drafted soon as desired by Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The prime minister said towards this purpose, the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), which is under the National Security Council (MKN), will assume the main responsibility of mobilising efforts across various government entities.

Prime Minister Anwar stressed there would be no compromise on national security, including in the digital domain and cyber eco-system. He hoped the bill would provide NACSA clear legal authority to regulate and enforce laws related to cyber security and improve the effectiveness of its functions.
