Quito Turismo Wins World Travel Award for South America’s Leading City Tourist Board
Quito Turismo has been honoured with the World Travel Award for South America’s Leading City Tourist Board 2024. The announcement was made on 1 July, marking the agency’s first win in this prestigious category.
Quito Turismo competed against tourist boards from Buenos Aires, Bogota, Medellin, Lima, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Guayaquil, and Cuenca, Quito in its debut nomination.
The World Travel Awards are widely regarded as travel and tourism’s most esteemed programme, and a win in any of its categories represents the industry’s highest honour.
These awards recognise excellence across various categories in each continent and nominations are based on recommendations from tourism industry professionals.
Through Quito Turismo, the Municipality of Quito promotes the Ecuadorian capital across multiple platforms, with efforts including participation in international trade fairs to the implementation of an innovative tourist information system (SITUR).
It also brings in international meetings and conventions, promotes tourist routes that showcase the Metropolitan District’s rural areas, developing a collaborative tourism agenda together with industry stakeholders, as well as extensive outreach through information channels and social media.
